Box office record

HIghlights from a statement received from Mirvish Productions:

[...]

David Mirvish is very proud to announce that the Toronto production of DISGRACED has set a box office record at the Panasonic Theatre. It is the highest attended drama in the theatre’s history (the venue opened in 2005 with the avant-garde entertainment Blue Man Group, which played until 2007).

DISGRACED has been seen by more than 10,000 theatregoers in Toronto since beginning performances on April 3, 2016. This is its final week of performances. It closes on Sunday, April 24. A strictly limited number of seats remain for the final performances.

Starring Raoul Bhaneja, Karen Glave, Ali Momen, Michael Rubenfeld and Birgitte Solem, DISGRACED is directed by Robert Ross Parker. A Hope and Hell Theatre Company production, it is presented by David Mirvish as part of the 2015-16 Off-Mirvish Season.

Says David Mirvish: “DISGRACED not only has attracted a very large audience for a drama in Toronto, it has become a major topic of conversation in our community because of the timely and important questions it raises. It is very satisfying to see a very diverse audience for this play, and it is especially gratifying to see that more than half of them remain in their seats after the performance to engage in a conversation about the show with the cast.

“Our goal with every Off-Mirvish show is to start a conversation in our community. DISGRACED has achieved this brilliantly.

“I’d like to thank the show’s star Raoul Bhaneja for being a champion of this play and for bringing it to us through his company, Hope and Hell Theatre. I know this production will also play the Citadel Theatre in Edmonton in 2017. I’m confident it will meet with the same success there."

From November 19 to December 7th, 2014, Karen was on stage in Ned Dickens' play 'Paulo and Daphne' playing at Pia Boumon Theatre, Toronto

Quote:

Glave at times allows some sweetness and warmth to radiate from the adamant Daphne, especially after a thrilling motorcycle ride. When she interacts with Matheson, we see a contemporary and credible version of the unrequited love between god and nymph.
